Engr. Obinna Paul Peter, popularly known as Ona-Pal, has extended an Independence Day message to Nigerians as the country marks 66 years of nationhood.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the message, issued by the Office of Engr. Obinna Paul Peter (Ona-Pal) Media Team, was titled “Happy Independence Day, Nigeria, 66 Years of Nationhood.”
According to the statement, independence is “not merely the historical attainment of sovereignty” but “an enduring responsibility to build a nation founded on justice, dignity, opportunity, and shared prosperity.”
The message stressed that the strength of citizens lies in their ability to rise above differences and uphold the values that bind the nation together. It urged Nigerians to contribute meaningfully to the society they hope to leave for future generations.
The statement also expressed the hope that the anniversary would renew national patriotism, civic consciousness and commitment to a more inclusive and prosperous Nigeria.
Independence Day is observed every October 1 to mark Nigeria’s attainment of self-rule from Britain in 1960. The 66th anniversary is again prompting reflection on the nation’s progress and the work still ahead.
The message closed with a warm greeting to Nigerians at home and abroad: “Happy Independence Day, Nigeria.”
