The Federal Government has placed an immediate ban on the admission or transfer of students into the Senior Secondary School 3 (SS3) class nationwide.
The directive, issued by the Ministry of Education, is a significant policy move aimed at preserving the integrity of the final year of secondary education. It is designed to prevent malpractice, ensure students complete the full senior secondary curriculum, and standardize the preparation process for crucial national examinations like the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and the National Examinations Council (NECO) exams.
School principals and administrators have been instructed to comply strictly with the new regulation. The government stated that the ban is necessary to curb irregularities and ensure that all SS3 students have undergone the required learning period before sitting for their final certificates.
