Four Parties Missing from INEC’s Bauchi Governorship List

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published the final list of governorship candidates for Bauchi State ahead of the 2027 general elections, featuring 15 candidates and their running mates.

CDA News Nigeria gathered that four political parties are missing from the list released on Saturday. They are the Social Democratic Party (SDP), the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Action Alliance (AA) and the Accord Party.

The parties whose candidates appeared on the list include the All Progressives Congress (APC), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), African Action Congress (AAC), Labour Party (LP) and Action Democratic Party (ADP).

Others are the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Action Peoples Party (APP), Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), National Democratic Party (NDP) and National Rescue Movement (NRM).

The omission leaves the participation of the four parties in the race uncertain. INEC has yet to explain why their candidates were not included, and neither the commission nor the affected parties had clarified the situation as of the time of filing this report.

The contest will determine who succeeds Governor Bala Mohammed at the end of his tenure.

INEC has scheduled the governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections for February 6, 2027, while the presidential and National Assembly elections will hold on January 16, 2027.

CDA News Nigeria reports that it will continue to follow developments and update readers once INEC or the affected parties respond.
