Gunmen Ambush, Kill Benue Miyetti Allah Chairman After Peace Meeting in Otukpo

The Chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Benue State, Ardo Muhammad, has reportedly been killed by unknown gunmen in an ambush shortly after attending a peace meeting in Otukpo Local Government Area.

According to reports, the incident occurred while Muhammad was returning from a stakeholders’ meeting aimed at promoting peace and addressing security concerns in the area. The attackers allegedly intercepted his vehicle and opened fire, killing him on the spot.

The tragic development has sent shockwaves across Benue State, with community leaders and security stakeholders expressing concern over the worsening security situation despite ongoing peace efforts.

Ardo Muhammad was known for advocating dialogue between herders and farming communities in the state. His death has raised fresh fears that criminal elements may be targeting individuals involved in reconciliation initiatives.

Security agencies are yet to release an official statement on the circumstances surrounding the attack, while investigations are expected to commence to identify and apprehend those responsible.
