Influencer ‘Peller’ in Police Net Over Dangerous Livestream Driving Incident

LAGOS – The Lagos State Police Command has arrested popular social media influencer Habeeb Hamzat, widely known as ‘Peller,’ following a viral video showing him allegedly driving recklessly and attempting suicide while livestreaming.

The 20-year-old was taken into custody after the footage, which led to a serious road accident, circulated online on Sunday. Police say his actions endangered his life and that of other road users, constituting a deliberate attempt to take his own life.

In a statement, Police Spokesperson SP Abimbola Adebisi confirmed the suspect is detained and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough probe. He will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.

Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, issued a stern warning to content creators against promoting dangerous acts, vowing that the “full weight of the law” will be applied to violators. The police reiterated their commitment to public safety and order.
