IRAN’S KHAMENEI TELLS TRUMP TO “STEER CLEAR” AMID UNREST

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has called on United States President Donald Trump to “focus on the problems of his own country” as widespread anti-government protests continue across Iran.

In a televised address on Friday, Khamenei accused some protesters of acting to “please the American president by destroying public property,” and warned that “a united Iranian people will defeat all enemies.”

The comments came in response to Trump’s earlier threat of a possible attack on Iran if security forces kill protesters. Khamenei insisted the Islamic Republic “will not back down in the face of those who are looking to destroy us.”

The protests, sparked by worsening economic conditions, are the most serious anti-regime demonstrations in years. Authorities have cut internet access in several cities, and rights groups report at least 45 protesters have been killed since the unrest began nearly two weeks ago.
