The Theatre Commander of the Joint Task Force (JTF) North-West, Operation Fansan Yamma, Major General Warrah Idris, has stated that notorious bandit leader Bello Turji is in “panic mode” as military operations intensify across Zamfara and nearby states.
Speaking to defence correspondents on Wednesday, Idris explained that Turji and other armed group leaders are under sustained pressure from coordinated ground operations, intelligence surveillance, and aerial reconnaissance, forcing them to relocate frequently.
“Based on the most current intelligence, Bello Turji and others are currently in confusion and panic because of the intensity of our current operations,” Idris stated.
He dismissed claims that Turji controls any local government or villages, describing such reports as propaganda meant to inflate the bandit’s influence despite his constant evasion of security forces.
The JTF continues to conduct clearance operations across terror-prone areas in the North-West to restore stability and enable the safe return of displaced communities.
