Kogi ADC Passes Vote of Confidence in David Mark

LOKOJA, NIGERIA – The Kogi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has passed a vote of confidence in the party’s National Chairman, Senator David Mark, amid ongoing leadership tensions within the opposition party.

In a communiqué issued after a stakeholders’ meeting in Lokoja on Wednesday, the Kogi ADC leadership described Senator Mark as a stabilizing force whose experience and statesmanship are critical to repositioning the party for future elections. The state chapter dismissed calls for his removal, affirming their unwavering support for his leadership.

“Senator David Mark has demonstrated integrity, inclusivity, and a commitment to the growth of our party. We stand firmly with him and reject any attempt to undermine his leadership,” the communiqué read.

The vote of confidence comes weeks after a faction of the ADC petitioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to drop Mark and another chieftain, Rauf Aregbesola, from the party’s leadership register. That faction claims a parallel convention produced a different leadership structure.

The ADC national leadership has yet to officially respond to the latest development. However, the Kogi chapter’s endorsement is seen as a boost for Mark as the party navigates its internal crisis.
