CDA News – The Labour Party (LP) has strongly criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for extending an invitation to its suspended National Chairman, Julius Abure, to a crucial consultative meeting of political parties.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the LP’s National Publicity Secretary questioned the commission’s motive, stating that recognizing Abure undermines the party’s internal leadership and a subsisting court order concerning his suspension.
The party described the action as “disconcerting” and capable of creating confusion, urging INEC to henceforth direct all communications to the acting National Chairman, Alhaji Lamidi Bashir Apapa.
NEC has yet to issue an official response to the Labour Party’s criticism.
