Lagos State University (LASU) has announced the commencement of the 2026/2027 student loan application under the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), urging eligible students to take advantage of the Federal Government intervention.
The university disclosed this in a statement posted on its official X account, noting that the application portal opened on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, and will remain accessible until Thursday, December 31, 2026.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that applicants must be duly registered students of the university and must possess a valid JAMB Registration Number, National Identification Number (NIN), and Bank Verification Number (BVN) before proceeding with their applications on the official NELFUND portal.
LASU further advised students to verify and update their institutional and JAMB records ahead of applying, warning that discrepancies or data mismatches could lead to disqualification or delays in processing. Students were also urged to ensure their matriculation numbers, departments, and other institutional details are correctly uploaded on the university’s portal.
The university directed students experiencing difficulties with record verification to seek assistance from the Directorate of ICT, and advised applicants to complete the process early rather than wait until the deadline approaches.
The development comes as NELFUND continues to roll out its 2026/2027 loan cycle nationwide, cautioning students against unofficial platforms claiming to process applications on its behalf.
