WASHINGTON DC, USA – Millions of Americans are expected to take to the streets across the United States on Sunday in a nationwide protest against former President Donald Trump, as opposition to his political resurgence intensifies ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
Organizers have described the demonstrations as the largest anti-Trump mobilization since the January 6 Capitol riot in 2021. Protests are planned in major cities including Washington DC, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Atlanta.
The rallies, organized by a coalition of civil rights groups, labor unions, and progressive organizations, are aimed at voicing opposition to Trump’s policy agenda, his ongoing legal battles, and what protesters describe as threats to democratic institutions.
“We are standing up for democracy, for the rule of law, and against authoritarianism,” a spokesperson for one of the organizing groups said.
Trump, who remains the frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination in 2028, has dismissed the protests as a “distraction” orchestrated by his political enemies.
Authorities have deployed additional security in several cities in anticipation of large crowds. No major disruptions have been reported as of press time.
