The National Association of Nigerian Students has issued a stern warning against individuals and groups it accuses of making frivolous allegations to stall the operations of key public reform institutions.
In a statement by its National Public Relations Officer, Comrade Adeyemi Samson Ajasa, NANS specifically condemned what it described as “needless attacks” on the Bureau for Public Procurement and other agencies, stating they should not be hounded for performing legitimate functions.
The association revealed it has sent a formal petition to the Department of State Services concerning what it considers a “grave threat to national stability and democratic governance.”
NANS alleged that a group called the “Nigeria Coalition for Justice and Accountability,” whose structure and credibility it questions, is collaborating with opposition figures and disgruntled elements within the system to sabotage ongoing reforms under President Bola Tinubu.
“We strongly suspect that these actions are not motivated by genuine concern for accountability, but rather by an agenda to embarrass the President, undermine confidence in reform institutions, and incite public distrust in government,” the statement read.
NANS expressed concern that such actions could degenerate into a breakdown of law and order and called on the DSS to investigate the group’s identity, funding, and motives, as well as prevent any actions threatening public peace.
The student body reaffirmed its commitment to peace, democracy, and constructive civic engagement, urging that the integrity of the national reform agenda be preserved.
