The Governor has inspected the facility, which is now 85% complete and scheduled to receive its first aircraft in December 2026.
Governor Bassey Edet Otu has inspected the Obudu International Passenger and Cargo Airport, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to completing the project within schedule and maximising its benefits for Cross River State . The facility, which has reached approximately 85 per cent completion, is expected to commence flight operations in December 2026, with regular commercial flights from Abuja and Lagos scheduled for the first quarter of 2027 .
The Governor’s inspection reflects his determination to ensure the airport receives the necessary attention until completion. The facility is expected to support both passenger and cargo movement, benefiting farmers, livestock operators, businesses and tourists while creating stronger links between the Obudu Ranch and other parts of the country .
Its completion is expected to complement the reported ₦60 billion foreign investment in the Obudu Ranch. According to the Governor, the airport will provide livestock farmers with direct access to export markets, positioning Cross River as a livestock production and export hub for Nigeria and West Africa . The state has already invested over ₦10 billion in the project .
The airport is consequently an important component of Cross River’s development strategy. Its successful completion could create employment, expand tourism, facilitate trade and support agricultural and commercial growth across the state.
