Ondo Sanctions 17 Students, Withholds WASSCE Results Over Sign-Out Misconduct

The Ondo State Government has withheld the WASSCE results and testimonials of 17 graduating secondary school students over alleged misconduct during their sign-out celebrations.

According to the Ondo State Ministry of Education, the disciplinary action followed reports that the affected students engaged in unruly behaviour after writing their final examination.

Officials said the students were captured in a viral video tearing their school uniforms, chanting unusual slogans, and displaying conduct considered inconsistent with the expected standards of discipline in public schools.

The affected students are from Oyemekun Grammar School, Aquinas Secondary School, and CAC Grammar School, all located in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

The government stated that the sanctions were imposed to reinforce discipline and serve as a deterrent against acts of indiscipline among students in public secondary schools.

Education authorities urged students to conduct themselves responsibly during school activities, stressing that disciplinary measures would continue to be enforced to uphold order and preserve the values of the state’s educational system.
