Orji Uzor Kalu: Politicians Are Lying to Tinubu About Nigeria’s Hardship

Abia North Senator, Orji Uzor Kalu, has said some politicians are misleading President Bola Ahmed Tinubu about the true state of the nation, insisting that the Catholic bishops presented an honest assessment of the country’s economic and security challenges.

According to CDA News Nigeria, Kalu made the remarks in a viral video while reacting to the recent meeting between President Tinubu and members of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The former Abia State governor described the Catholic bishops as the conscience of the nation, noting that their advice to the President was not politically motivated but intended to present the realities confronting Nigerians.

Kalu acknowledged that Nigerians are facing genuine economic hardship and insecurity but argued that the challenges were not solely the fault of President Tinubu. He urged the President to take the bishops’ observations seriously and continue working to improve the country’s situation.

He further stated that while some politicians might paint an overly positive picture of conditions across the country, the bishops had a responsibility to tell the truth without political bias.

CDA News Nigeria reports that Kalu’s comments followed revelations by Archbishop Emeritus of Abuja, Cardinal John Onaiyekan, that President Tinubu disagreed with the bishops’ assessment of the nation’s economy and security during their closed-door meeting at the Presidential Villa.
