ABUJA, Nigeria — Senator Adams Oshiomhole has accused former Rivers State Governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, of contradicting his previous political positions, questioning his recent criticism of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Oshiomhole, who represents Edo North Senatorial District, made the remarks during an interview on TVC on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, according to a report by CDA News Nigeria.
The former Edo State governor and ex-national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) alleged that Amaechi had changed his political stance after previously supporting the APC and Tinubu-led political establishment.
Oshiomhole argued that Amaechi’s earlier role within the ruling party and his subsequent criticism of the government raised questions about the consistency of his political positions.
“Amaechi is contradicting his past positions. He has lost direction politically,” Oshiomhole was quoted as saying.
He also criticised Amaechi’s recent comments about the state of the nation, describing them as hypocritical and urging Nigerians to scrutinise the former minister’s record in public office.
Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers State who served as Minister of Transportation under former President Muhammadu Buhari, has become associated with the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC) amid political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The disagreement reflects wider political tensions between members of the ruling APC and opposition figures as parties and politicians position themselves ahead of the next general elections.
CDA News Nigeria will continue to follow reactions from both political figures and other developments ahead of the 2027 elections.
