Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has called on residents of the state to remain steadfast and refuse to succumb to intimidation ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
According to CDA News Nigeria, the governor urged eligible voters to come out peacefully and exercise their constitutional right without fear, expressing confidence that the will of the people would prevail at the polls.
Adeleke maintained that the people of Osun have a long history of defending democracy and would not allow any form of pressure or harassment to influence their electoral choices.
The governor reaffirmed his confidence in the electorate, stating that independent assessments indicate strong public support for his administration. He urged citizens to remain law-abiding while participating in the democratic process.
His remarks come amid heightened political activities and increased security measures across the state as political parties intensify campaigns ahead of the governorship election.
CDA News Nigeria reports that security agencies have assured residents of adequate protection before, during and after the election, while the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reiterated its commitment to conducting a free, fair and credible poll.
