PDP Lawmaker, Supporters Defect to APC in Zamfara

Gusau, Zamfara State – The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has welcomed a significant defection from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Honourable Maharazu Faru, the PDP lawmaker representing Maradun II Constituency in the State House of Assembly, officially defected to the APC on Tuesday. He was joined by five PDP ward chairmen and hundreds of their supporters.

At a ceremony at the APC secretariat in Gusau, Faru cited the failure of Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration as his primary reason for leaving. He stated that the governor has not fulfilled his campaign promises, particularly in addressing the state’s pressing insecurity.

Faru also accused the governor of sidelining his constituency and showing a lack of fairness, where only a “favoured cabal” enjoys the dividends of democracy.

The APC State Chairman, Hon. Tukur Danfulani, welcomed the new members, attributing the party’s growing strength to the leadership of Dr. Bello Matawalle and Senator Abdulaziz Yari. He expressed confidence in the APC’s unchallenged comeback in the 2027 elections.
