Police Arrest Four Drug Suspects, Recover ₦1.8m, Cannabis in Enugu Raid

ENUGU – The Enugu State Police Command has intensified its war against drug trafficking, arresting four suspects and recovering a significant cache of narcotics and cash in intelligence-driven operations within the state capital.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, disclosed that operatives from the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team and the Anti-Cultism Squad carried out the separate raids. The operations targeted criminal hideouts behind New Market and identified black spots in Obeagu, Asata, and the Holy Ghost Railway Area.

The SWAT team’s raid led to the arrest of a 46-year-old female suspect, Omeru Nkechi. Exhibits recovered from her include one large bag of suspected Indian hemp, a water-pumping machine, a POS machine, assorted wires, and a cash sum of ₦1.8 million.

In the related operation, three male suspects—Anielozie Emmanuel (21), Ekoh Miracle (20), and Nwachukwu Michael (27)—were arrested. Items recovered from them include 32 small containers of suspected cannabis, one sachet of the same substance, and 12 wrapped pills suspected to be hard drugs. Nwachukwu Michael is also suspected to be a member of the Vikings Confraternity.

The Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, reaffirmed the command’s unwavering commitment to combating drug abuse, cultism, and all forms of criminality in the state.
