First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, paid her first official visit to Anambra State on Thursday, during which she launched the South-East phase of the National Community Food Bank Programme and was conferred with a chieftaincy title.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the First Lady touched down at the Chinua Achebe International Airport, Umueri, at about 11:31 a.m., where she was received by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, his wife, Dr Nonye Soludo, Deputy Governor Onyekachukwu Ibezim and other top government officials.
During her engagements at the Old Government House, Amawbia, Mrs Tinubu empowered 5,000 residents with N500 million under the Progressives United Against Poverty Initiative, championed by the Anambra First Lady. She also commissioned the TETFund ICT Experience Centre at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko.
At a grand reception held at Dr Alex Ekwueme Square, traditional rulers conferred on her the chieftaincy title “Ugoeze Anambra,” meaning “The Glory of the King.” In her remarks, the First Lady described Anambra as holding a special place in her heart, recalling that her husband, President Bola Tinubu, had earlier received the “Dike Si Mba” title in the state.
Governor Soludo commended the First Lady for her contributions to Anambra and Nigeria at large, while also addressing concerns raised by the APC over its alleged exclusion from planning the visit.
