The House of Representatives has directed the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to produce an individual identified as Adeyemi, described during legislative proceedings as an alleged “fake” Director-General of an agency, within 48 hours.
CDA News Nigeria independently verified that the directive was issued during a session of the House of Representatives as lawmakers intensified efforts to investigate the circumstances surrounding the controversy.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that members of the House expressed concern over the allegations and resolved that the IGP should ensure Adeyemi’s appearance before the relevant authorities within the stipulated period to aid ongoing investigations.
According to the lawmakers, the directive is aimed at ensuring accountability, uncovering the facts surrounding the matter and protecting the integrity of public institutions. They stressed that due process must be followed and that all parties involved should be given the opportunity to present their positions.
CDA News Nigeria reports that the House reaffirmed its commitment to legislative oversight and pledged to continue monitoring the matter until all outstanding issues are addressed in accordance with the law.
As of the time of filing this report, the Nigeria Police Force had not publicly responded to the House’s directive.
