Shock as Gov. Aiyedatiwa’s Anointed APC Reps Aspirants Get Axed in Ondo Primaries

Major political drama has rocked the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, as three aspirants endorsed by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa as consensus candidates for House of Representatives seats have been disqualified by the party.

The screened-out aspirants are Tajudeen Adefisoye (Idanre/Ifedore), Victor Ategbole (Akoko South-East/South-West), and Samuel Arowele (Owo/Ose federal constituency). Daily Post Nigeria.

The controversy deepened further as the disqualification list was released on the very day of the primaries, affecting seven aspirants across several federal constituencies in the state.

One of the affected aspirants, Murufu Ibrahim, described his disqualification as sudden and questioned the suspicious timing of the screening report, alleging it undermined transparency and denied aspirants the opportunity for redress.

Responding, APC’s Director of Media and Publicity in the state, Steve Otaloro, maintained that the exercise was largely peaceful, and stressed that the disqualifications were entirely the decision of the party’s national leadership, not the state secretariat.

Following the collapse of the governor’s consensus arrangement, the APC officially adopted direct primaries across all nine Ondo constituencies. The outcome has deepened internal divisions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
