Soldiers Take Over Kwara Community After Deadly Church Attack

KWARA STATE – Nigerian military forces have deployed extensively and taken control of a Kwara community following a violent attack on a local church that left multiple worshippers dead and others abducted.

The attack occurred during Sunday service when armed assailants stormed the church, opening fire on congregants and seizing an unspecified number of hostages before fleeing into surrounding areas.

Military authorities confirmed the immediate deployment of troops to secure the community and pursue the attackers, with operations ongoing to locate and rescue those abducted.

Witnesses described scenes of chaos and panic as worshippers scrambled for safety during the assault, which represents one of the most significant attacks on a religious institution in the state in recent years.

Kwara State government officials have visited the community and pledged to work closely with security agencies to ensure the safe return of all kidnap victims and prevent future occurrences.

The military has established a security cordon around the community and intensified patrols in neighboring forests where the assailants are believed to be hiding.

This incident has raised concerns about the spread of religious violence to previously peaceful regions of north-central Nigeria.
