Tinubu Appoints New Service Chiefs, Oluyede is New Defence Chief

ABUJA – In a significant overhaul of the nation’s security leadership, President Bola Tinubu has appointed new service chiefs for the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

The most prominent change sees General Olufemi Oluyede appointed as the new Chief of Defence Staff, replacing General Christopher Musa.

The other new appointments are:

· Chief of Army Staff: Major-General W. Shaibu
· Chief of Air Staff: Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke
· Chief of Naval Staff: Rear Admiral I. Abbas

The Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye, retains his position.

In a statement, President Tinubu thanked the outgoing service chiefs for their “patriotic service and dedicated leadership.”

He urged the new appointees to “justify the confidence reposed in them” and uphold the high standards of the Nigerian military.

All appointments take immediate effect.
