The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction led by Kabiru Turaki (SAN) has appointed caretaker committees to manage the party’s affairs in five states: Delta, Enugu, Imo, Rivers, and Osun.
The move follows the dissolution of the previous state executives after the governors of those states defected from the PDP. The new committees, each comprising 7 to 11 members, are to serve for up to 90 days or until new executives are elected.
This decision highlights the ongoing internal rift within the PDP, as a rival faction loyal to former Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike had earlier inaugurated its own caretaker committee in Lagos State last month.
The Turaki-led National Working Committee stated that the appointments were made in line with the party’s constitution.
