The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared that the crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been resolved, calling on aggrieved members to return to the party fold.
Wike made the declaration during a political gathering in Abuja, where he expressed confidence that internal disagreements that once threatened the unity of the party had been effectively addressed.
“The crisis in PDP is over. What we need now is reconciliation and rebuilding. Our doors are open to everyone who left or felt dissatisfied,” he said.
The former Rivers State governor emphasized the importance of unity and collective effort as the party prepares for future political contests, including the 2027 general elections. He noted that internal disputes are not uncommon in political organizations but stressed that resolving them quickly is key to maintaining relevance and strength.
Wike also urged party leaders at all levels to prioritize dialogue, inclusiveness, and mutual respect to prevent future conflicts. He reassured supporters that the PDP remains a formidable force in Nigeria’s political landscape.
Political observers, however, say it remains to be seen whether all factions within the party will fully embrace reconciliation, given the depth of divisions witnessed in recent times.
Nonetheless, Wike’s statement signals a renewed push toward unity as the PDP seeks to reposition itself ahead of upcoming political challenges.
