ABUJA – The office of Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe has firmly denied a viral online report claiming he stormed the Senate chamber with a Biafran flag, labeling the story as completely false and politically motivated.
The fabricated report, which spread rapidly across social media and some blogs, described a scene of total chaos, alleging the Senator disrupted plenary to demand the release of detained IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu.
In an official rebuttal, a spokesperson for the Senator highlighted critical factual errors that prove the story’s inaccuracy. Most notably, the Senate does not hold plenary sessions on Fridays, making the described event logistically impossible.
Furthermore, the statement clarified that Senator Abaribe was not even present at the National Assembly complex at the time of the alleged incident, having traveled for a scheduled Senate oversight function.
The office condemned the false report as a “misleading concoction” designed to sabotage ongoing political and diplomatic efforts to resolve the sensitive issue of Nnamdi Kanu’s detention. They urged the public and media outlets to disregard the unfounded story.
