Madrid, Spain — Nigeria’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Spain, Ambassador Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, has paid his first official courtesy visit since assuming office to Archbishop Pierro Pioppo, the Apostolic Nuncio to Spain and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps. CDA News Nigeria gathered that the meeting was aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s diplomatic ties and reaffirming the country’s commitment to peace, unity, and global partnership.
According to information gathered by CDA News Nigeria, Ambassador Ikpeazu described the visit as both strategic and personal, noting that he deliberately chose the Apostolic Nuncio as the first recipient of his official courtesy call because of his unique position within Spain’s diplomatic community.
The former Abia State governor said his diplomatic mission goes beyond representing Nigeria, adding that he intends to project a positive image of the country while promoting its economic opportunities and strengthening international cooperation.
“Today was a significant day in my tour of duty. I deliberately chose my first courtesy visit to His Excellency Archbishop Pierro Pioppo to seek his blessings as I embark on this remarkable assignment of representing and rebranding my beloved country.”
The discussions also focused on global peace, human dignity, unity among nations, and strengthening international partnerships based on mutual respect, equality, and justice. Ambassador Ikpeazu is expected to continue high-level engagements with Spanish authorities and members of the diplomatic community as part of efforts to deepen Nigeria–Spain relations.
