Analyst: Fubara May Be Target of APC’s “No Automatic Ticket” Policy

Political analyst Prof. Anthony Ikila has suggested that Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara may be a primary target of the All Progressives Congress’s “no automatic ticket” policy for elected office holders.

Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Wednesday, Ikila noted that Fubara’s political vulnerability stems from facing opposition from a serving minister and key party figure—an apparent reference to Nyesom Wike.

He described the governor’s situation as politically complex, with the APC leadership possibly using the policy to balance competing interests and manage internal rivalries.

Ikila cautioned that while the policy might be strategically motivated, it could negatively impact internal party democracy.

The remarks come amid ongoing impeachment proceedings against Fubara and heightened political tensions in Rivers State.
