APC, ADC Supporters Clash in Kaduna as 2027 Political Tensions Escalate

…Vehicles, Campaign Materials Destroyed; Both Parties Trade Allegations

Supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC) have clashed in Kaduna State, with vehicles and campaign materials destroyed amid escalating political tensions ahead of the 2027 elections.

CDA News Nigeria reports that the violence erupted when ADC supporters gathered at Dakande Toll Gate to welcome the party’s governorship candidate, Isa Mohammed Ashiru, following his return from a two-week Lesser Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia. The ADC alleged that suspected APC supporters, arriving in Hilux vehicles and a branded “Renewed Hope” bus, attacked their members and vandalised several vehicles 

CDA News Nigeria gathered that an ADC member, Awwal Gezau, alleged that supporters who parked their vehicles around Maraban Jos were also targeted by hoodlums who damaged the cars . The party subsequently displayed the damaged vehicles to journalists.

The APC has countered with its own allegations. The party’s Public Relations Officer in Kaduna, Sani Dan Azare, claimed that APC members, support groups, and party offices were also targeted, with vehicles reportedly vandalised. Dan Azare called on security agencies to investigate all claims impartially, stating: “No political contest is greater than the peace and security of Kaduna State” .

The ADC governorship candidate, Ashiru, has appealed for calm, urging his supporters not to take the law into their own hands. “Do not respond to provocation with violence. Our strength lies in our discipline, our character and our commitment to a better Kaduna State”.

The clash comes as political activities intensify in Kaduna, with Ashiru—who contested the 2023 governorship under the PDP—now flying the ADC flag against incumbent Governor Uba Sani of the APC .
