The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially unveiled the members of its State House of Assembly Screening Committee and Screening Appeal Committee, in a significant and carefully coordinated step towards the conduct of the party’s forthcoming primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The unveiling of both committees signals the APC’s determination to conduct a thorough, transparent, and credible screening process for all aspirants seeking the party’s ticket to contest State House of Assembly seats across Nigeria — a critical layer of the party’s overall candidate selection architecture that will directly shape its legislative fortunes in 2027.
The Screening Committee is charged with the responsibility of evaluating the eligibility, academic credentials, party loyalty, and overall suitability of all State House of Assembly aspirants presenting themselves for the APC’s primary elections — ensuring that only qualified, credible, and electorally viable candidates proceed to the primary stage.
The Screening Appeal Committee, on the other hand, provides an independent and impartial channel through which aspirants who feel aggrieved by the decisions of the main Screening Committee can formally challenge their screening outcomes — a safeguard designed to uphold fairness, due process, and internal party democracy.
The composition of both committees, drawn from experienced party leaders, legal minds, and NWC representatives, reflects the APC’s commitment to building a primary process that commands the confidence of aspirants, party members, and the wider Nigerian electorate.
All State House of Assembly aspirants across the country have been advised to familiarise themselves with the screening schedule, prepare their documentation thoroughly, and engage respectfully and professionally with both committees throughout the process.
The APC National Working Committee is expected to release further details including the full list of committee members, venue arrangements, and a comprehensive screening timetable in the coming days.
