Call for Transparency: Why Does Pastor Jerry Eze Need a Separate Foundation, Critics Ask

A public debate has been sparked following the launch of the Jerry Eze Foundation by the founder of NSPPD (New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declarations), Pastor Jerry Uchechukwu Eze.

While many applaud the initiative aimed at supporting Nigerian youth, critical voices, including online commentator Eke O. Ako, have questioned the necessity of a separate foundation when Eze’s church, Streams of Joy International, is already registered as a charitable organization.

In a detailed social media post, the commentator argued that churches in Nigeria enjoy tax-exempt status as charities, implying that their substantial income should directly fund poverty alleviation and social programs. He challenged the government to scrutinize the financial activities of major religious organizations to ensure compliance with their charitable mandates.

The debate highlights ongoing public concern about transparency, accountability, and the use of funds within large religious movements in Nigeria.

At the time of publication, Pastor Jerry Eze had not issued a formal response to the questions raised.
