DHQ Denies Recruiting Terrorists into Nigerian Military

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has firmly denied allegations that terrorists or criminal elements are being recruited into the Nigerian Armed Forces.

In a statement issued by the military high command, the DHQ described the claims as false, misleading, and capable of undermining public confidence in the nation’s security institutions. The military emphasized that its recruitment process remains rigorous, transparent, and guided by strict background checks to ensure only qualified and law-abiding Nigerians are enlisted.

The clarification comes amid growing public concerns and speculations suggesting that individuals with questionable backgrounds may have found their way into the military system. However, the DHQ insisted that such narratives are unfounded and do not reflect the realities of its recruitment procedures.

According to the statement, all prospective recruits undergo comprehensive screening, including security vetting, medical examinations, and verification of personal records before being admitted into service. The military also reiterated its commitment to professionalism, discipline, and the protection of Nigeria’s territorial integrity.

Security analysts say the response by the DHQ is aimed at restoring public trust and countering misinformation that could weaken morale within the armed forces.

The military urged citizens to disregard unverified reports and instead rely on official communication channels for accurate information regarding recruitment and national security matters.
