Eko DisCo Begins Free Prepaid Meter Rollout for Customers

LAGOS – Eko Electricity Distribution Company (Eko DisCo) has launched a new phase of its free prepaid meter distribution program, aiming to provide meters at no cost to eligible customers in its service area.

The initiative is part of the Presidential Metering Initiative (PMI), funded by the Meter Acquisition Fund (MAF) Tranche B. The program is designed to close the metering gap, promote transparency, and eliminate estimated billing.

Customers on Band A and Band B feeders are eligible to receive the free meters. Eligible customers can apply through the Eko DisCo online portal until November 30, 2025.

Installation of the meters is scheduled to run from November 6 to December 31, 2025.

“This tranche-B rollout ensures that more of our customers enjoy the benefits of accurate billing and greater control over their electricity consumption,” said Babatunde Lasaki, Eko DisCo’s General Manager of Corporate Communications.

The scheme is a nationwide effort approved by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to address the country’s significant metering shortfall.
