The mandate of Danladi Halilu Envulu-Anza as senator-elect for Nasarawa North Senatorial District has been formally sealed, with the Independent National Electoral Commission presenting his Certificate of Return on Monday, June 22, a day after officially declaring him the winner of the by-election conducted across Akwanga, Nasarawa Eggon, and Wamba Local Government Areas.
The APC candidate polled 45,362 votes, comprehensively defeating former Minister of Information Labaran Maku of the Labour Party, who scored 12,931 votes, and PDP’s David Emmanuel Ombugadu, who garnered 11,570 votes.
The A.A. Sule/DHE Senate Campaign Council commended Governor Abdullahi Sule, traditional rulers, religious leaders, party loyalists, and the media for their role in delivering the mandate, describing the unity and mobilisation across the zone as a demonstration of the power of collective action.
Speaking on behalf of the senator-elect, former Nasarawa State SSG Timothy Anjide rejected allegations of electoral irregularities, insisting the poll was peaceful and orderly. He described Envulu-Anza as a globally recognised legal mind, administrator, and philanthropist, adding that the people of Nasarawa North had made an excellent choice.
The APC recorded a dominant sweep in the June 20 by-elections, securing victories in Ondo, Nasarawa, Kano, and Kebbi States, while the PDP retained only the Rivers South-East Senatorial District seat.
Envulu-Anza is expected to complete legislative formalities ahead of his formal inauguration into the Senate.
