FOUR DIE IN OGUN ROAD CRASH

ABEOKUTA, NIGERIA – Four persons have been confirmed dead in a fatal road accident along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Ogun State, involving a commercial bus and a truck.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the incident, stating that the crash occurred in the early hours of Tuesday at the Fidiwo axis of the busy highway. Preliminary investigations revealed that the commercial bus, which was traveling at high speed, collided head-on with a truck after a failed overtaking maneuver.

The Sector Commander of the FRSC in Ogun State, Mr. Anthony Uga, confirmed that four passengers lost their lives on the spot, while several others sustained varying degrees of injury and were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.

“Our operatives responded swiftly to the scene. The injured are receiving medical attention, and the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue,” Uga said.

The FRSC urged motorists to exercise caution, avoid excessive speeding, and adhere strictly to traffic regulations, especially on the ever-busy Lagos-Ibadan corridor, which records a high number of road accidents.

The command also advised commercial vehicle operators to ensure their vehicles are in good condition before embarking on any journey.
