GUNMEN ROB, KILL POS OPERATOR IN IMO

OWERRI, NIGERIA – Gunmen have reportedly robbed and killed a Point of Sale (PoS) operator in Imo State, in what appears to be a targeted attack on small-scale business operators.

The incident occurred on Monday evening in the Orlu area of the state, according to eyewitnesses. The assailants, who arrived on a motorcycle, allegedly shot the victim after he resisted handing over his cash and machine, making away with an undisclosed sum of money.

The Imo State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that operatives have been deployed to the area to track down the perpetrators.

“We condemn this senseless killing. Our men are on the trail of the suspects, and we will ensure they are brought to justice,” a police spokesperson said.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. His body has since been deposited at the morgue.

The attack has sparked outrage among residents and PoS operators in the state, who have called for improved security and urged the government to provide better protection for small business owners who are increasingly becoming targets of robbery.

The police appealed to anyone with useful information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
