The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has issued a global appeal to its members and support networks to rally behind the medical care and legal defense of its detained leader, Nnamdi Kanu, citing escalating costs associated with his ongoing case .

In an internal memorandum dated February 13, IPOB spokesperson Emma Powerful directed coordinators, unit leaders, and members across the group’s global network to mobilize support, stating that Kanu had personally appealed for assistance to organizations that have stood by him during his legal proceedings and health challenges .

The memo specifically identified the American Veterans of Igbo Descent, Ambassadors for Self-Determination, and the Rising Sun Foundation as key organizations that have provided various forms of assistance over the years and require continued backing .

According to the document, Kanu’s detention outside Abuja has significantly increased logistical costs for legal representatives and medical personnel who must travel to visit him. These expenses have created additional financial pressure on support efforts, the memo noted .

While expressing concern about Kanu’s health, the statement emphasized the importance of sustained medical attention alongside his legal defense, though no specific medical details were provided .

IPOB leadership urged members to remain united, avoid internal disputes, and maintain discipline in communications. Members were advised to circulate only verified information through official channels and counter misinformation calmly .

The memo indicated that broader fundraising initiatives may be introduced later this year as the legal process continues, emphasizing solidarity among members during this period .
