…Says Ikwuano/Umuahia Constituents Want Common Good Over Personal Interest
A political group, Mandate 27 Group, has made the case for Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji’s 2027 House of Representatives bid in Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency, alleging that the seat has been run in a self-serving manner for three years.
CDA News Nigeria reports that in a statement, the group argued that the constituency needs representation driven by common interest rather than personal gain.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the group described Orji as a “deliberative, accountable and people-centred” leader, citing his tenure as Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, where it said he built infrastructure, paid hospital bills for the poor, and gave scholarships from his pocket.
The group alleged that the constituency has suffered from “absentee representation” and “decorative” politics, adding that the 2027 election will be a referendum on whether constituents want representation that serves personal or common interest.
CDA News Nigeria reports that the Mandate 27 Group attributes the claims of poor representation, self-serving leadership, and Orji’s record to the group and that they have not been independently verified. The incumbent, Hon. Obi Aguocha, has not responded to the allegations as of the time of filing this report.
