The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted a consignment of UK-bound cocaine and arrested a Lagos businessman in a fresh crackdown on international drug trafficking.
CDA News Nigeria independently verified that the operation was carried out by NDLEA operatives as part of the agency’s sustained efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks operating within and outside Nigeria.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the suspect was apprehended during an intelligence-led operation after officials uncovered the cocaine allegedly prepared for shipment to the United Kingdom. The agency recovered the illicit drugs and immediately launched further investigations to identify other members of the trafficking syndicate.
According to the NDLEA, the arrest demonstrates its continued commitment to preventing illicit drugs from leaving Nigeria through airports and other exit points. The agency added that suspects connected with the case would be prosecuted in accordance with the law after investigations are concluded.
