Ohanaeze Ndigbo has expressed support for a thorough investigation into the death of Mary Habila, while rejecting calls for the resignation of the Minister of Works, David Umahi, over the incident.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation urged security agencies to conduct a transparent, impartial, and comprehensive investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding Habila’s death and ensure that justice is served.
According to Ohanaeze, it would be premature to demand the resignation of the minister before the conclusion of the ongoing police investigation. The group maintained that due process should be allowed to take its course, warning against prejudging the matter.
The organisation also appealed to the public to refrain from spreading speculation or misinformation capable of undermining the investigation, stressing the need to rely on verified facts as the case progresses.
CDA News Nigeria reports that the death of Mary Habila has continued to attract widespread public attention, with the Nigeria Police conducting investigations, including an autopsy, to determine the exact cause of death.
