AWKA — The Anambra State Police Command has reportedly pledged to cover the full medical expenses of the only surviving child among those found at the residence of a female native doctor in the Ideani Community, Idemili South Local Government Area.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the newly deployed Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, announced this commitment during a press briefing at the command’s headquarters in Awka.
CDA News Nigeria reports that the tragic incident involved four children who were discovered unconscious at the premises of a woman known locally as an Ezenwanyi. Three of the children were later confirmed dead by medical personnel, while the fourth is currently in critical condition fighting for survival.
CP Ama expressed deep sadness over the tragedy, stating that the command’s immediate priority is to ensure the surviving child receives necessary medical attention out of respect for the sanctity of human life. The female native doctor has been arrested, and the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) has taken over the case.
The bodies of the deceased have been deposited in a mortuary, and the surviving child’s testimony will assist investigations upon medical clearance. The police have urged the public to remain calm and allow investigators to conclude their work.
