Nigeria’s power sector recorded losses estimated at N2.6 billion due to electricity transmission losses within three months, highlighting ongoing challenges facing the country’s electricity supply chain.
CDA News Nigeria reports that the losses stem from inefficiencies in the transmission network, resulting in significant amounts of generated electricity failing to reach distribution companies and end-users.
Industry stakeholders say transmission losses continue to affect the financial sustainability of the power sector, limiting revenue generation and reducing the efficiency of electricity delivery across the country.
Experts have called for increased investment in transmission infrastructure, grid modernization and regular maintenance to minimise technical losses and improve the reliability of power supply.
The development comes as the Federal Government continues reforms aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s electricity sector through improved infrastructure, enhanced grid capacity, and increased private sector participation.
