Sowore Re-arrested by Police Moments After Meeting Bail Conditions

ABUJA – In a swift turn of events, human rights activist Omoyele Sowore was re-arrested by police on Friday shortly after being granted bail and meeting all conditions set by the Kuje Magistrate Court.

Sowore had appeared in court alongside Prince Emmanuel Kanu, the brother of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, and several others. The court had granted them bail for ₦500,000 each with two sureties.

Despite complying with these requirements and being processed for release, police officers apprehended Sowore again immediately after the court session concluded. He was taken back to the Kuje Correctional Centre.

Reports indicate this new arrest is connected to fresh charges. Sowore is expected to be arraigned on Monday, October 27, concerning his recent public statements about President Bola Tinubu.
