Maiduguri, Borno State — Nigerian troops have arrested a suspected Sudanese terrorist and a Ghanaian national during a counterterrorism operation in Borno State, as security forces continue efforts to dismantle insurgent networks in the North-East.
CDA News Nigeria reports that the arrests were made during ongoing military operations targeting terrorist activities in parts of Borno State. Security sources said the suspects are currently in custody and are undergoing preliminary investigation to determine their identities, affiliations and possible roles in terrorist activities.
The military said the operation forms part of sustained efforts to combat insurgency, disrupt terrorist logistics and improve security across the region. Intelligence gathered from the suspects is expected to aid ongoing operations.
“The suspects are in custody, and investigations are ongoing to determine their level of involvement and gather intelligence that will support ongoing counterterrorism operations,” a military source said.
The Armed Forces reaffirmed their commitment to protecting lives and property while urging residents to continue providing credible information that could assist security agencies in the fight against terrorism.
The suspects have not been convicted, and investigations remain ongoing. Any criminal responsibility will be determined through the appropriate legal process.
