UCL: Real Madrid Set to Sell Six Players in Major Summer Overhaul

MADRID, SPAIN — Real Madrid are reportedly preparing for a major squad overhaul this summer, with as many as six first-team players set to be offloaded following a turbulent 2025-26 campaign that has seen them struggle for consistency.

The Spanish giants, who sacked manager Xabi Alonso in January after a disappointing run of results, are now planning to reshape their dressing room significantly under the guidance of president Florentino Perez.

The club currently sits four points behind Barcelona in the La Liga title race and has already suffered an embarrassing Copa del Rey exit to lower-league Albacete.

Defensive Veterans on the Way Out

According to multiple reports, including German outlet BILD and Spanish publication MARCA, the clear-out will begin with the club’s experienced defensive core.

David Alaba, 33, is the primary candidate for an exit. The Austrian international’s contract expires at the end of the season, and the decision to part ways with him has reportedly been finalised after an injury-plagued stint in Madrid that has kept him sidelined for nearly 18 months.

Antonio Rudiger is also likely to depart when his deal expires in the summer. While the German centre-back has worked his way back into the first team in recent weeks, the club’s silence regarding contract extensions suggests a desire to move in a different direction.

Club captain Dani Carvajal, a veteran of 26 trophies at Real, faces an uncertain future. The legendary right-back’s contract expires at the end of the season, and he has found himself on the bench more often than not following the arrival of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Camavinga Price Tag Revealed

Perhaps the most shocking name on the list is Eduardo Camavinga.

The 23-year-old French midfielder, who joined the club from Rennes in 2021 for £34.3 million, has been linked with moves to several Premier League clubs.

According to MARCA, Real Madrid would be willing to listen to offers in the region of £43.2 million (€50 million) for Camavinga, who has struggled to cement a permanent starting role this ter.

Both Manchester United and Newcastle United are said to be monitoring his situation closely.

Left-backs Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia are also deemed surplus to requirements as the club looks to clear significant wage space for incoming targeted.

Mendy has suffered multiple muscle injuries this season, while Garcia has lost his regular starting spot.

Incoming Targets Identified

Real Madrid have already begun searching for worthy replacements. The club is reportedly preparing a blockbuster €160 million offer for Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise, who has emerged as one of the hottest players in Europe

Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot is being targeted as a potential replacement for Carvajal, with around €30 million reportedly enough to sign the Portuguese international.

The club also holds a 50% buy-back clause on Stuttgart midfielder Chema Andres, who has impressed since leaving the Bernabeu academy.

Before undertaking the major overhaul, Los Blancos remain focused on finishing the season strongly. They currently hold a convincing 3-0 lead heading into the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
