We Agreed on Reconciliation — Dickson Reveals What He Told Kwankwaso Amid NDC Crisis

Former Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Seriake Dickson, has broken his silence on the crisis rocking the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), revealing details of his discussion with the party’s chieftain, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, following the fallout from the recent primary elections.

Speaking to journalists on Wednesday in Abuja, Dickson confirmed that he and Kwankwaso held a closed-door meeting to assess the growing disputes over primary results across several states.

“We discussed the need for unity, reconciliation, and a return to the party’s founding ideals. The NDC cannot afford to disintegrate before the 2027 elections,” Dickson said.

He disclosed that both leaders agreed to set up a reconciliation committee to address grievances from aspirants who rejected primary results, including allegations of name substitutions and imposition of candidates.

Dickson also cautioned against personal attacks within the party, describing them as a distraction from the goal of unseating the ruling APC.

Kwankwaso has yet to issue an official statement on the meeting. The NDC’s national leadership is under increasing pressure to resolve the crises or risk collapse.
