LAGOS — The Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arraigned Chinwendu Fidelia Ohanebo before a Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja over an alleged N42,345,000 fraud connected to a fake petroleum supply deal.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that Ohanebo was brought before Justice M.A. Lawal on Wednesday on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining under false pretences and stealing by conversion .
CDA News Nigeria reports that the alleged offences were committed in 2025 and involved one Musa Muhammed Jidda . According to the first count, Ohanebo allegedly obtained N42,345,000 from Jidda under the false pretence of supplying 45 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at N941 per litre . The second count accused her of dishonestly converting the sum to her personal use .
When the charges were read to her, Ohanebo pleaded guilty to the first count but entered a plea of not guilty to the second count . Following her plea, prosecution counsel H.U. Kofarnaisa requested an adjournment to commence trial on the second count .
Justice Lawal adjourned the matter for review of facts on the first count and commencement of trial on the second count. The judge ordered that Ohanebo be remanded in a correctional facility pending the continuation of proceedings .
